The Sword Diva
I started belly dancing in 1995 when I saw a class offered through Minneapolis Community Ed. I love community ed its a wonderful way to try all sorts of things.
I started tribal when Amira taught it to her Continuing Master class. I love both cabaret and tribal style belly dance. Cabaret has the greatest freedom for personal expression and the sparklies are nice too! Tribal style is great because it allows you to interact with a group in a very spontaneous way I also like the tassels, big skirts and being loud.
I LOVE having a live band! Felahi adds a whole level of interaction not only are dancers communicating with each other, they also are communicating with the musicians.
I teach belly dance (cabaret style and sword technique) through Golden Valley Parks and Recreation.
I also enjoy sewing (I sew most of my tribal costumes as well as an occasional quilt), gardening and I take Gumdo (Korean Sword Form Martial Art) when I can to help improve my sword technique.
